Calcitic limestone is one of the most versatile raw materials in heavy industry. Essential for Portland cement manufacturing, lime production for construction, and glassmaking, it also serves as a flux in metallurgical and steelmaking processes — lowering ore melting points and removing impurities. Liming with calcitic limestone is the most effective practice for correcting soil acidity and increasing the availability of essential nutrients such as phosphorus, potassium, and calcium.
